Agris is a small commune of mainly old stone-built houses which boasts a library, Post Office, Church and a bar/restaurant called Le Relais d’Agris run by Jerome. This is a 2-minute walk from Les Chevillous and it is open for lunch and beverages most days.

The beautiful Forêt de la Braconne is also a short stroll or ride from your gite, the whole area is ideal for cycling due to the low volume of traffic.

La Château de la Rochefoucauld is said to be one of the most remarkable castles in France. The Roman dungeon, which is the oldest part, and the numerous sculptures are the main points of interest. But the masterpiece of la Rochefoucauld is without a doubt the 16th-century continuous spiral staircase.- only a 10 min drive

Angoulême – French capital of the comic strip and designated City of Art and History, Angoulême sits high above the Charente river and is surrounded by ramparts. The old town has lots of interest; Saint-Pierre cathedral, which dates from the 12th century, has a high tower and remarkable facade carved in the Poitevin Romanesque style, a town hall with flower garden, ramparts offering a magnificent view of the Charente valley, mansions, lively narrow streets to wander around and numerous cartoons painted on walls. Great for shopping – 30 min drive.
